There is a power in our body beyond our understanding.
We were working on the farm later that evening when my friend Dorian was bitten by a golden cobra on her right foot. The bite was deep enough that we could see the three teeth penetrations on her foot.
In a great rush, without using thought, I let myself be guided by whatever came, ran to the toilet, grabbed a glass, urinated in it and poured it directly on the bites. (I am fond of urine therapy, a protocol that I was following those days.)
The next step was to call a cab and rush to any hospital to get the antivenom and reach fast enough to keep her alive. She was calm and not scared, as I was. She could keep breathing very slowly, which gave her more time.
The bite was so deep that the venom was injected in big doses, as we could see the foot wet by the salivary glands of the animal. Her organs were affected at a big scale, the liver, kidney, perhaps not functioning. It took a full-night battle between body and soul.
The poison penetrated in such a quantity that the second day, her foot started to gangrene and increased by the day. The third day, doctors decided to proceed with amputation.
Immediately we changed the hospital, this time for a better place, but the next day, the chief doctor had done the same prognosis. Dorian was not attached to the situation and was far away, as if she was not at all concerned with her body issues. I took complete responsibility for her physical body. I felt that her soul was great, so no worries for that side!
The next night, like burglars, we planned to take Dorian out of the hospital with the help of a shaman (traditional specialist in snake bites) and his group of assistants. I believe in natural healing because I never use aggressive ways towards the body.
However, to take her body out of the hospital, we needed to pass the main door control, and without the signature of the principal, we could not make it.
We called the doctor who was sleeping at that time (1 am). Here, I will not share the story that my mind created to convince the doctor for an emergency evacuation of Dorian from the ICU room of his hospital. But being a French citizen in India helped a lot to convince him and get his signature on the discharge paper at 2 am without any long first arguments. In the end, I also signed, taking the responsibility of her possible death, which completely fell on my back.
We are out of the hospital heading towards our place. The body was so weak and in such pain that it took time to find a place in the van to put her semi-comfortable. The shaman was reassuring us that she would be okay, so I was completely in trust. He said that the A/C room and glucose drip were the worst things to do for snakebite poison. Dorian, in this second hospital, was under Intensive care unit with air conditioning and glucose. That is common in all health centers as they do not have much knowledge about how to deal with these problems, apart from using the antivenom (but that also is coming from the local shaman knowledge).
To keep the story short, what was crucial for her survival first and later recovery were two things:
First, her mindset, which was non-attachment to her body, that gave her that space to listen to what the body needed. She knew that if she breathed slowly, she would stop the poison from spreading fast in the bloodstream.
Secondly, she was in tune with her higher self during her recovery process, knowing exactly what to do to detox and activate her body functions: staying in a dark room, maintaining silence, and consuming pomegranate.
The first step towards curing any disease is to listen to our body and detach ourselves from it. We are pure energy living in a body, and it is our responsibility to maintain and repair our vehicle.
Dorian was craving pomegranate, although she didn’t know why. Later, we found out from Dr. William Li about the power of pomegranate and its impact on the microbiome.
One of the key factors in strengthening our immune system, which is crucial for good health, is to maintain a healthy microbiome colony in our gut. By giving our body what it needs, we can help build a strong immune system to fight off diseases. Positive thinking and a clean environment are also beneficial. We should eat what our body needs, not just what our mind desires.
Scientists now consider the microbiome to be a critical regulator of human health. Gut microbiota dysbiosis, defined as an imbalance in the gut microbial composition linked to a diseased state, can lead to high blood pressure or HTN.
Drinking certain fruit juices has a positive impact on the levels of Akkemansia municiphila, a microbe associated with decreased gut inflammation and the ability to combat obesity, certain types of cancer, and heart problems. The microbiome benefits of drinking pomegranate juice are linked to its bioactivities, such as ellagitannins, which can be metabolized by Akkermansia.
In conclusion, although Dorian’s toe had died, it underwent an incredible metamorphosis process, and she was able to regenerate it. Our bodies are capable of amazing things if we have faith and a calm mind. There are many factors involved, but listening to our body is the most important step, as it has the power to heal itself.
